Meet CIDAUT.

Transport and Energy R&D Foundation

Fundación CIDAUT, born on 2nd of February 1993, is a Research and Development Center whose objective is research, development and innovation of new technologies in the industrial sector, especially in the field of transport and energy and the environment.

The activities carried out from the center are intended to cover the needs of companies and enhance their competitiveness and industrial development.

The center carries out R&D projects that can be framed within the following areas: Sustainable, intelligent and integrated transport; Advanced materials and new processes- Circular Economy; Energy and environment; Technology of the information and communication; and Industry 4.0. The Fundación CIDAUT work methodology, consisting of addressing all the stages associated with the development of a new product, from the conception of the idea to pre-industrialization, going through the characterization of materials, the simulation of their behavior and processing, the conception and design of prototypes and, finally, the validation.

  • Research and Technological Development (R&D&i). This section is the main activity of the Center and the feature that marks the personality of the Foundation, taking up approximately 80% of the Centre’s total activities. Due to the evolution of the Centre during the last years, as well as to the experience gained, the demand from the companies, the changes in the market and the challenges met, the research, development and innovation programs have focused on the following main technological areas: Product-Process-Materials, Energy and Environment, Transport Safety and Others (Mobility, Acoustics and Vibrations).

  • Technological Services: Transfer of Technology, R&D&i Studies Applied to Products, Design and Development, Processes, Analysis and Diagnosis, Experimental Testing, Computer-aided engineering (CAE), Environmental and energetic plans, etc.

  • Specialized Training: CIDAUT stages specialized training activities in the fields of engineering and technology for the transport and energy sectors.

Fundación CIDAUT has an Integrated Management System that ensures the quality of the projects and services and offers the maximum guarantee of on objectivity and technical rigour. This system fulfils the quality requirements defined by the ISO 9001 and the ISO/IEC 17025 standards. It is accredited under Standard EN ISO/IEC 17025 to perform crash tests according to EN 1317 (Road Restraint Systems) EN 12767 (Support Structures for Road Equipment) and UNE 135000 (Motorcyclist Protection Devices).

In addition, the laboratories of the Fundación CIDAUT have also passed a series of accreditation processes performed by different official entities like the Spanish National Entity of Accreditation (ENAC) and NADCAP, covering a wide range of tests on materials and joints, including metals, plastics, coatings and threaded joints.

Within the SALIENT project, Cidaut leads WP6 that is the work package dedicated to testing, validation and assessment and involves the complete crashworthiness evaluation of the new FES solutions developed in the frame of Salient Project. Cidaut also collaborates in WP2 and WP3 in the development of the new safety concepts and the selection and characterisation of the materials and the join technologies.
